Well, I’ve neglected my poor blog for a while. I’ve had a good excuse though, it’s been really busy at Myroo HQ.

I’ve been working hard on perfecting my new soap range and am delighted that they are now added to the site. They are traditionally made soap, containing only the finest natural ingredients. They are mild and gentle to use and super moisturising. If you’ve only tried mass produced commercial soaps then you are missing a treat. Take a look at the full range on the site now.

Also added to the Myroo family is my new feminine and sensual Bath & Body Oil. I’ve been selling this at fairs for a while and it’s been well received, so it’s long overdue to introduce to my online customers. I hope you love it as much as I do.

I’ve spent a lot of time revising and improving all my packaging. I’m delighted with the finished look, I think it really represents Myroo well. Everything is now packaged in clear bottles and jars, so you can see the product inside. Clarity is a key part of the Myroo branding, being open and honest with our customers. So the transparent packaging feels appropriate.

Finally, I’ve had some amazing new photography taken to show off my products in their best light. I’m really pleased with them. I’d love to hear what you think.

Our Lavender & Geranium soap is a beautifully fragranced soap, packed with beautiful butters and oils to cleanse, nourish and soothe gently. Shea butter, olive oil and almond oil all bring great moisturising properties, whilst the floral fragrance calms and uplifts.

Citrus Brulee Soap

Our Citrus Brulee soap is made with coconut oil, olive oil and lashings of shea butter. It is enriched with a calendula infusion in sunflower oil, fragranced with a light, refreshing citrus essential oil blend and finished with two liberal layers of dried citrus peel to give a gentle exfoliation to dry, hard working hands.

Skin Care Trends – Facial Oils

With big brands predicting that 2012 is the year of the facial oil, who are we to disagree. In fact we totally agree! According to Dr Lionel de Benetti, Clarins Head of Research and Development for Clarins, “‘Plant oils have a very fine molecular structure, so they are rapidly absorbed by the skin, which means they give quick results. Use oil every night for three weeks for the best results, but as they’re so readily absorbed, you should actually notice a difference within days”.¹What’s not to like about that?

Applying oil to the skin is nothing new. The Ancient Egyptians used olive oil to soften and nourish their skin. However modern facial oils have developed and are nothing like the heavy, greasy products of the past. The best product use a careful blends of plant oils and extracts to deliver optimum performance, nourishing, balancing and softening skin.

Perhaps surprisingly, facial oils are ideal for all skin types, not just dry skin. People with oily skin may be worried about blocking pores or increased oiliness. In fact the opposite is true. Facial oils can balance sebum production, look for products containing jojoba which mimics the skin’s sebum and helps balance dry and oily skin. For really dry skin, use your facial oil on slightly damp skin for an extra moisture boost.

Your facial oil should have a blend of ingredients that deliver total nutrition for your skinin the form of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. Avoid petrochemical based oils that can block pores and look for an oil packed with natural ingredients, like Myroo’s Skin Boost Facial Serum.

Parabens – new research

New research has been published by the team at Reading University, headed by Dr Philippa Darbre¹which is reigniting the debate over the safety of parabens. Newpapers are already covering the story warning their readers of possible risks;

The team analysed cancerous breast tissue from 40 women and found quantifiable paraben esters in 99% of tissue samples. In 60% of samples all 5 varieties of paraben ester were found ^2.Dr Darbre said the presence of parabens in cancerous breast tissue samples did not necessarily mean they had actually caused the women’s cancer but has called for further investigation into the use of parabens ³.

It is a controversial issue and I have blogged about parabens before. You can read the blog post here. Again I leave it to you to read the evidence and make your decision about the risks. If you do want to avoid parabens or reduce your exposure then the whole Myroo range is completely paraben free and always will be.
