I meant to blog about last weekend sooner but the week flew by in a haze of work, poorly children and latterly a poorly me. Mr Myroo and I were lucky enough to have a little overnight stay in the lakes last Sunday. The mini Myroos stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's and we went off to celebrate a special friend's 40th birthday at the delightful Punchbowl Inn in Crossthwaites.
It was a thoroughly indulgent time, with long soaky baths, pink prosecco, delicious food and a restorative lie in. The trip was capped off by a lazy day, which seemed all the more special for being a Monday. We pottered the day away with a stroll round Lake Windermere, a cafe lunch and finally a long look round one of our favourite second hand bookshops, in Sedburgh.
Of course I made straight for the skincare and aromatherapy sections. I'm delighted with my little treasure trove. The herbs book was the princely sum of £1 and has already prompted lots of new ideas. The perfume book is a perfect bath read and the Bodycraft book has lots of recipes for products using fresh ingredients, I might even share some with you here.
It was such a lovely 24 hours. It's great to step out of routine now and then and allow time for relaxation. As a friend quoted to as at the Punchbowl last weekend, "leisure time should be passed without purpose". When did you last truly have some leisure time? Rachael x
