It's lovely to have a manicure for Christmas. A little treat to get you in the festive mood.
However, have you ever given a thought to what's in your nail varnish?
You may sometimes have pondered the strong smell when applying your favourite polish but do you know what's lurking in there?
There can be some pretty strong chemicals in mainstream brands formaldehyde, toluene, triphenyl phosphate and others have all come in some for some criticism but still find their way in to lots of our products.
When you consider that nails are even more porous than our skin, perhaps it's time to go natural with your manicure kit?
It's a lot easier than it was, the initial brands to market focused on '3 free', eliminating 3 of the hit list ingredients. Now you can find 3, 5, 7 and even 12 free polishes, so there's plenty of choice.
If you're wondering about the 12 free ingredients, Nailberry list them as 'Phthalates including DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Xylene, Ethyl Tosylamide, Triphenyl Phosphate, Alcohol, Parabens, Animal Derivatives & Gluten'.
So, to get you started we've got a round up of some of our favourite brands and their seasonal offerings.
