Myroo Favourites - Mascara

Posted by on

Sure we’re all about skin care, but we LOVE make up too! We’re on the hunt for makeup brands that line up with our morals, cruelty free and where possible vegan too!

Each week we’ve challenged our Social Media Manager, Emma, to share her three favourites from each category hunting for the best of the best, and we want to hear from you too about your favourites!

First up is mascara, the perfect eye framer, but with SO many on the market, all offering everything from curling, lengthening, thickening, so we tried a whole load and we’ve chosen our favourite three.

Pixi Large Lash Mascara - The Natural One

We’re big fans of Pixi, Petra it’s founder is a skincare hero of ours and a real inspiration in terms of innovation and the simple fact they have never, nor will they ever, test on animals!

"Pixi Large Lash Mascara boasts a specialised formula containing Vitamin E and Panthenol which help to strengthen and nourish lashes. With an oversized brush to deliver extreme volume and intense colour in one swift sweep, this mascara can give you luxuriously long lashes that are full of body, giving you that false lash look without clumping. Water-resistant and smudge-proof, Long Lash Mascara from PIXI is a must have for your make-up bag."

If natural, defined lashes are what you’re looking for, this is the mascara for you. It’s a very easy to wear mascara, doesn't flake or smudge and it was easy to take off. The wand is very big and fluffy and doesn’t pull out too much product, which means no transfer as I applied it. It comes in both black and brown and will definitely become our natural choice for mascara.

Pixi stance on animal testing: “Pixi does not test on animals, nor do we have any other parties, such as suppliers, conduct any animal testing on our behalf. Pixi uses only the highest quality ingredients which have a proven safety record and are widely used in the cosmetics industry.”

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara - Drama, drama, drama!

You know how they say every woman's wardrobe should have a little black dress, well Eyeko Black Magic Mascara is the little black dress of the makeup world, it’s super, duper black and gave my lashes a serious dramatic look to them.

Eyeko say this about the mascara...

"Transform your eyes with the power of Black Magic! Designed for after-hours seduction, our ultimate mascara combines drama, volume and curl with a carbon-black finish to intensify your lashes like no other. The curvaceous brush lifts lashes for a 90-degree curl, while remaining conditioned, supple and defined with colour that stays true and really lasts."

I definitely noticed straight away the carbon-black element, as I have very dark hair naturally it’s hard to find mascara that is black enough to really give a dramatic look, this certainly offered that in buckets!

It lasted very, very well through a fab 25th wedding anniversary party, including some tears and lots of dancing!

The brush is curved so does pull al little too much product out, so it’s worth wiping a little off before you apply it, but it looks fab on both top and bottom lashes.

Even though it lasted really well, it was easy to take off too. A real bonus!

Eyeko stance on animal testing; “We are against animal testing. We do not test on animals, not even our raw ingredients. Nor do we support any companies who test on animals. We do not sell in China and our suppliers do not test.”

Hourglass Caution Mascara - One Swipe Wonder

This is the new kid on the block, and the most chic looking of all the mascaras we tried! They say this about their newest launch "An all-in-one mascara that delivers endless length, intense volume and sky-high lift for extreme, dramatic lashes. The combination of the innovative 4D Amplifier™ brush with the continuously buildable formula create lashes that defy the boundaries of traditional mascara."

The brush is slender and is coated with the perfect amount of mascara, and with one swipe it gave lift and volume, along with really intense, blackest-black finish. This definitely doesn’t transfer which is a massive bonus if like me you’re an eye rubber!

The brush grips the lashes to curl and lift, which meant I don’t need loads of coats because you get all you need from one coat, top and bottom!

Just like the others it removes really easily with our cleanser and muslin cloth.

They get extra bonus points for creating a vegan mascara!

Hourglass stance on animal testing: “We are a PETA certified, conscientious brand that is proud to offer cruelty free products. Hourglass Cosmetics does not test on animals during product development or production. In addition, we do not provide authorisation to any third parties to perform animal testing on our products.”

We really hope we’ve helped you find your next mascara! I’m always on the lookout for new goodies for my makeup bag, so be sure to let us know in the comments or over on our Facebook & Instagram, which your favourite mascara is!
